The difference between an amateur logo and a professional logo?
Amateur = busy
Professional = simple
Notice the move towards simplicity in Starbucks’ logo over time (and no longer any words)…
Ever seen church logos where you know the pastor went symbol-happy all over it? “Well, the five stones represent ____ while the babbling brook means ____ while the way the blue/green sky interacts with the single cloud denotes ____”. It’s way too complicated.
Logos are meant to 1) be instantly recognizable, 2) be simple enough to understand immediately, and 3) emotionally connect people with your organization.
By the way, the best logo in the world?
It doesn’t even need words.
Keep it simple.
